In life, Jeryn Frederick was passionate about many things; from law enforcement and the Boy Scouts, to woodworking, and the outdoors. His sons have established this fund to support projects, programs, and people that are making a positive impact in the Branch County community that align with our father’s passions.
American Baptist Women’s Ministries has a long heritage of being on the forefront of mission and ministry with women and girls worldwide. The ABW group at the First Baptist Church received a $300 from the Memorial Fund to support their mission.
Jeryn and Carol were active leaders of Troop 433 while their two sons worked to earn their Eagle Scout awards. Troop 433 received a donation of $1,500 from the Memorial Fund to support the Troop's camping and hiking ambitions.
Two of Jeryn's grandchildren, Henry and Violet, are active in their Cub Scout pack in Charlotte, MI. The Memorial Fund made a $1,300 donation to Pack 45 to assist scouts with attending summer camp and for infrared thermometers to check temperatures at den meetings.
Jerry was a long-tenured member of the Dive Team. The Memorial Fund donated $2,000 to the dive team to support new equipment purchases and training.
Jeryn was an avid outdoorsman and a 15 year leader for the AEWE program organized through the Branch ISD. A $2,000 donation will help students participate in the program that may otherwise not be able to attend.
Jerry started the criminal justice/law enforcement at the BACC 25 years ago. The Memorial Fund will establish two - $1,000 annual scholarships for students in the CJ/LE program that are pursuing higher education and a career in the field.
Jerry participated in the Shop with a Cop program to help spread Christmas cheer to kids in need. The fund supported the fundraising golf outing for the program. Frederick Family Dental continues to support the annual outing as well.
Eric has followed in his father's footsteps and is the Scoutmaster for Troop 43 in Holland. Henry is a Life Scout working on Eagle and funds were donated to support the troop's new equipment trailer.
Jerry loved to read and was always deep in an adventure book about historic treasure hunting of the misadventures of an ex-MP. He loved reading to his grandkids as well. A donation was made to the children's section of the Branch District Library in his name.
Jeryn spent 43 years in law enforcement serving the people of Branch County. From criminal apprehension and emergency medical service to the dive team, our father was there for everyone.
Our father pioneered the criminal justice program at the Branch Area Careers Center and taught at Kellogg Community College and impacted the lives of more than 1,000 students.
Jeryn and Carol raised two Eagle Scouts and volunteered their time to help dozens of others live the Scout Oath.
Dad chaperoned more than a dozen AEWE trips to wild destinations across the country connecting students to nature and providing transformative experiences.
Dad could never say no to helping someone with a woodworking project or custom piece of furniture. His shop was his happy place, and his work resides in homes across the country.
Our father was a family man. Everything he did was for us. He gave and sacrificed without rest to ensure our happiness and success.
